Fatima

My name is Fatima and I’m a registered Early Childhood Educator in the Preschool Program at SMCC.
I’ve always been interested in working with children and their development. My passion started when I taught TaekWonDo classes to young children in Stittsville. I decided to pursue this passion into a career and got my diploma in Early Childhood Education at Algonquin College.
I enjoy working with their creative, caring and curious minds everyday.

Hilary

My name is Hilary and I have been with the centre for over 13 years. I have taught every age group tboughout my time here, but can currently be found with the Jr. Preschoolers.

I originally went to school for music performance before becoming an RECE. I will always try to incorporate music into the day, be it singing a silly song or just playing something in the background.

I have a daughter who joined the SMCC family from the get go and she loves it here as much as I do.

Ishrat
My name is Ishrat and this is my sixth year teaching at the SMCC as a Senior Preschool educator (RECE). I have been working in this field for more than 10 years and I am truly fortunate and blessed to be teaching at an amazing child care centre that embodies a nurturing and loving environment. I just like working with kids and I love to learn new things so this is genuinely an enjoyable learning experience for me. I enjoy getting to know each child individually and finding ways to connect with them.

Linda

Linda has been at SMCC since 2010–to the present and has worked in every room at the centre, her favourite being preschool! She loves watching the children’s eyes light up when they learn something new, singing with them, doing art and setting up fun dramatic centres or having 10 little friends run to greet her every morning! She has been an ECE since 1990 and has worked in childcare centres in B.C. and Nova Scotia, ran a home daycare when living in Montreal and worked with special needs children in rural Quebec.

She loves working with children and loves coming to work every day. She lives in Kanata with her husband of  37 years and she has 3 adult children. Her oldest daughter is married and living in Sherbrooke Que and this year she made Linda a  happy grandmother! She likes to bake, read and antique shop with her husband!

Mabel

My name is Mabel and I am an educator in the toddler room. In 2021 I graduated from the Early Childhood Program at Algonquin and I am now an RECE. I have always wanted to work with children, it has always been a big passion of mine. My favourite part of the day is when the children first come to the centre, their smiles and excitement to come to the daycare make my day.

My goal as an educator is to make all children and family members feel welcomed in the toddler room. I want to support every child’s needs and learning styles as well as celebrating their uniqueness. I am very excited to be part of this amazing childcare team!

My other passions outside of work are exploring nature and going on walks. I also enjoy playing with my cats and reading!

Santhi

Hi, My name is Santhi and I joined the SMCC in 2021. I am a Civil Engineer graduate, but I am interested in building a career in ECE. I am a mother of two lovely boys. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking and travelling with my family and friends.

I find inspiration every day working with the toddlers and knowing that I am part of their first school experience. I feel it is a gift to me to help them explore the world around them.

Working with the toddlers and all the children at SMCC brings me great joy. I enjoy working at the Center because of the amazing team of teachers. Thank you for sharing your precious children with us!

Sami

My name is Sami and I am a registered Early Childhood Educator in the Preschool Program at SMCC.

I have many hobbies, such as baking, reading, crocheting, and spending time with family and friends. Even more so, I love spending time with children, watching them play, learn, and grow! Growing up, I always knew that I wanted to help people in some way, but after taking a gap year, I discovered that becoming an RECE and educating children was the way to go.
I love being able to connect and learn about each and every child, including their interests, their abilities, and their talents!

Ryan
My name is Ryan Parnell, I’ve worked with SMCC for 1 year and before that I’d spent my whole life around my younger cousins, helping take care of them and eventually got a job babysitting. That’s how I learned I enjoyed working with children. I’m always reminded why I love my job when I see the smiles on kids faces.
