Junior PreschoolOur preschoolers are taught in a fun and welcoming environment at a ratio of one teacher for every eight children, with a maximum of 24 children.
The Preschool Program gives your child an opportunity to interact with other children through cooperative learning activities. Our goal is to enhance your child’s social skills such as taking turns, good manners, cooperation and respectful behaviour. A variety of play and art materials are used to promote curiosity, creativity and self-expression. |
The preschool teachers use indoor and outdoor, hands-on experiences and activities to give your child an opportunity to explore and discover new things. We also help your preschooler to develop ideas and language skills (to aid future learning) with the following activities:
- retelling events
- drama
- music and movement
- story time

We use the Lilio app to give parents updates about the fun that their child is having by providing pictures of activities throughout the day. We also provide information about meals and nap length when requested.
We care about your child’s progress - at least once a year or when requested, your child’s teacher(s) will provide you with an individualized report card. The update offers insight on your child’s development and progress in the Preschool Program.

Your Child's Transition to SMCC
For families who have completed their registration package, we offer integration visits to allow children and a family member an opportunity to meet the staff and observe the program while offering the child an opportunity to join in outdoor play with his/her new friends. During any Outbreaks, these visits are restricted to outdoor time if the parent remains on the premises outside the fenced area. Outside of Outbreaks time, traditionally the visits take place inside the program room. The week before the child begins attending on a regular basis, we offer half days care to allow the child a more relaxed entrance to the program. |
Program Options & Fees
Based on availability, SMCC offers full-time care. For more information on fees for each type of care. see our Fees page. |
